Pressed glass legs lift the body clear of the table, so a wet glass does not leave a ring and the piece reads as ornament rather than storage.
The scales are moulded into the wall, not applied. They catch light from any angle and never wear off, fade or peel in a dishwasher.

The original use, and still the strongest. Clear glass lets a customer judge colour and grade without opening the lid, which cuts handling in a retail setting.
